| Who
are They? |
 |
Pat
and Carrie left San Diego in October 2005 aboard their Island Packet
380, Terra Firma.
Neither is sure whose idea it was to sail, but after a trip to Tonga on
a
charter boat, the hook was set. It was time to sell the 14'
Hobie monohull and get serious.
At the time, Pat and Carrie were living in Flagstaff, AZ, not exactly
the sailing mecca of the western world. They took lessons in
San Diego, and on one fateful day, stopped in to the Suncoast Yachts brokerage
for Island Packet Yachts.
Three steps down the companionway of the 380 and it was a done deal.
They signed on the dotted line and put a plan in motion to
sell everything and move aboard Terra Firma in San Diego.
This meant selling the house, finding new jobs, extracting
Pat from his partnership and so on.
They spent 6 years in San Diego woking and learning about the boat and
her systems. In October 2005, they finally set sail south.
This website follows their sailing and land travel adventures.
